Join us on a floating fiesta to the beautiful Mexican Riviera! We’re cruising the Sea of Cortez to revisit familiar favorites Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlán, and Cabo San Lucas plus adding the enchanting port town of La Paz to this 10 day cruise and caregiver retreat.

Where we’re taking you.

Pre-cruise:
The fun starts in San Diego when travelers arrive at our pre-cruise group hotel. The Elite Cruises staff will meet you at the airport and escort you to our group hotel where you can rest up from flights and take advantage of all this incredible city has to offer. We particularly love visiting the zoo, Balboa Park, the USS Midway museum, or just strolling the waterfront soaking up the California sun. After relaxing and doing some light sight seeing we’ll rest up so we’re ready for embarkation day!
 
November 27:
Welcome aboard the Koningsdam! Elite Cruises staff will escort you through port security and to your cabin onboard the ship where you’ll have a chance to relax and unpack before we get the party started at our first group dinner. After dinner it’s time to explore the entertainment venues onboard and start making good use of your beverage package. A mango margarita by the pool sounds like an excellent way to kick off a cruise to Mexico!
 
November 28:
This day at sea feature programs exclusively for our group in addition to the amenities from Holland America Line. Caregivers can participate in support circles and workshops while their loved ones join in the fun at Social Club; during Social Club the Elite Cruises staff members will spend time with loved ones in a space separate from family caregivers and will engage travelers in easy activities appropriate for their lifestyles.
 
November 29:
Keep watch for whales from our ship as we head towards Cabo San Lucas! Once we arrive there’s plenty more wildlife to observe for travelers who wish to take a glass bottom boat tour out to the famous El Arco rock formation. For travelers looking for a beach day the coast is dotted with fabulous resorts with pools and beaches calling your name. And for anyone feeling adventurous we recommend splurging on a dolphin encounter that is a truly incredible experience for travelers of every age.
 
November 30:
Love art? Then you’ll love the vibrant city of La Paz! Stroll the waterfront in search of all the aquatic themed sculptures, visit the shops of local artisans who specialize in pottery and woodwork, and of course stop by the historic cathedral for a glimpse of the gorgeous stained glass windows. For travelers who desire a more hands on experience, check out a Sassy Salsa Class where you’ll learn how to make traditional Mexican salsas before learning how to salsa dance.
 
December 1:
This day at sea gives caregivers and other travelers a chance to take advantage of ship amenities. Enjoy port talks and cultural presentations in the theater, take time out to soak in the spa hydrotherapy pool, participate in a tequila tasting, or soak up some sun on the pool deck or your private verandah.
 
December 2:
Mazatlán is a feast for the senses! Watch for cliff divers that thrill tourists daily with their death-defying jumps, discover the history of Mexico through traditional music and dances, partake in a tequila cream tasting in the historic city center, or visit the largest aquarium in Mexico; whatever you choose to do here, be prepared to start your Christmas shopping early because Mazatlán is known for the shopping scene.
 
December 3-4:
Puerto Vallarta is one of our favorite destinations in Mexico and we couldn’t be happier that our ship is docked for the night, giving us two days of sightseeing in this gorgeous city. We’ll need both days to taste all the tequila, discover all the art on the boardwalk, take in some cultural performances, learn about traditional chocolate making in the region, and maybe even have time to relax with a day pass to an all-inclusive resort.
 
December 5-6:
Two last days at sea gives caregivers more time to enjoy programs and share tips and advice with each other while the Elite Cruises staff spends time with loved ones. This is the perfect time to relax before the stress of the holiday season and enjoy the perfect weather of the region before returning home.
 
December 7:
The Koningsdam returns to San Diego and it’s time for travelers to say goodbye…until next time. Join us when our Caribbean cruise season begins after Christmas!

Each traveler on this group voyage will enjoy amenities including:

For travelers who require a robust supported experience as well as their families we provide amenities unique to our travel agency including:

• Accessible accommodations and excursions and mobility device reservations can be made through our agency. Private accessible transport is also available to/from port. Elite Cruises is a certified accessible travel advocate.
• Daily caregiver respite/break time
• Neuroplasticity focused activities curated by our programming director. These activities are tailored to the lifestyle and preferences of any attendees.
• Group accompanied by medical professionals, including RN support 24/7.
• Option for flights accompanied by Elite Cruises staff.
• Option for shore excursions to be accompanied by Elite Cruises staff.
• Private duty care and daily personal care can be arranged.
• Caregiver workshops and support circles on sea days.

Wheelchair accessible and mobility accessible staterooms are available on a first come first serve basis. All cabins on the ship can be retrofitted to be accessible with elevated toilet seats, shower chairs, and detachable shower heads at no additional cost. Arrangements can be made to rent assistive devices such as manual wheelchairs, scooters, power wheelchairs, etc. unless travelers prefer to bring their own from home.
