Where We’re Taking You
Pre-Cruise: Vancouver
Join us for a pre-cruise hotel stay in Vancouver where you can relax before cruise departure day and be escorted to the cruise ship with Elite concierge services managing your transportation and handling your luggage. Ask us about adding one night or more, giving you time to explore this impressive city before we head north to Alaska.
August 16: Vancouver
Embark Holland America Line’s award winning ship the Westerdam. Once settled in we’ll gather together as a group to wave goodbye to land, get to know each other, and kick off the fun. Beverages are included with your Have It All onboard package so you’ll enjoy cocktails, mocktails, specialty coffees, and more the moment we board. So go ahead, get a Dutch 150 cocktail while dancing the night away at one of the many entertainment venues onboard.
August 17: Inside Passage
Start watching for wildlife as we wind our way through the islands and fjords of the Inside Passage. Today is all about relaxing so treat yourself to a wine tasting, take a soak in the hydrotherapy pool, or visit the casino onboard and enjoy all the amenities our ship has to offer. And if you’re feeling particularly fancy treat yourself to a traditional European high tea in the dining room on the back of the ship that boasts incredible ocean views.
August 18: Ketchikan
Ketchikan is one of our favorite stops in Alaska because it has something for everyone. Take a tour of the colorful town, create a crab tower, or go on a fishing excursion, whatever you choose to do here we know it will be memorable thanks to the spectacular scenery. We arrive here early so order room service breakfast before starting your adventures today.
August 19: Juneau
Today we’re meeting the Juneau Dipsticks Auto Club and we cannot wait to see what the club members are driving! Or if you feel like getting in touch with nature we recommend a whale watching tour where you are guaranteed to see whales and seals and maybe even get splashed a little by a whale tail. We have a full day to spend here so there’s plenty of time to fit in everything!
August 20: Skagway
Skagway offers up a full day of adventure but we cannot imagine a better way to spend it than taking the White Pass Train into the Canadian Yukon. No matter how you choose to spend your day though the natural beauty of Alaska will leave you in awe by the time you depart.
August 21: Glacier Bay
Keep your cameras ready because Glacier Bay is the real show stopper of any Alaska cruise; everywhere you go around the ship will have jaw dropping views. A don’t forget to take advantage of the hot tub on the upper deck because when else will you get the opportunity to relax in the steamy water while surrounded by glaciers?
August 22: College Fjord
When cruising through College Fjord we’ll be surrounded by snow capped mountains and dozens of glaciers, most of which are named after East Coast colleges. Keep an eye out of the largest, Harvard Glacier, while enjoying coffee or hot cocoa on the balcony of your cabin. Spend the day enjoying the ship’s amenities before packing your suitcase for the land tour portion of our journey.
August 23: Whittier to Denali National Park
We’ll depart our ship in Whitter and board our glass dome train car on the McKinley Express. Keep your eyes open for wildlife as we make our way inland to Denali National Park where we’ll be staying for two nights. We can’t wait for these evenings here when we can gather around the campfire with a million stars visible above us.
August 24: Denali National Park
Today we’re going on a tundra wilderness tour! Keep an eye out for bears, moose, and more while our tour bus takes us to picturesque spots for photos on Cathedral Mountain or by East Fork River.
August 25: Denali to Fairbanks
We’ll depart Denali by luxury coach and take that to our final destination of Fairbanks; here we’ll spend three nights at a centrally located hotel nearby to the new, enlarged location of the Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum. This collection features some of the rarest cars in the world alongside period correct clothing and accessories to really highlight the era of each auto. The new location is also large enough to display vintage planes from the Pioneer Air Museum, making this stop a must visit destination for anyone who loves history.
August 26: Fairbanks
Today we’re venturing out on a paddlewheel boat cruise on the Chena River. This tour showcases the beauty of Alaska alongside its history and is something every member of your family will look forward to, with bush pilot demonstrations and discovering what the life of Iditarod champions is like, before disembarking at Chena Village to experience the culture of indigenous peoples of the area.
August 27: Fairbanks
This last day is reserved for bucket list experiences! Ask us about arctic circle expeditions, sled dog adventures, historical experiences, or of course another visit to explore the collection at the Fountainhead Museum.
August 28: Fairbanks
Depart Fairbanks for home or take advantage of our optional trip extension that takes you to Tacoma, WA for a visit to America’s Car Museum. Ask us about airfare, hotels, activities, and more to keep the fun going when you extend your travel with us!
