March 1: Shimizu, Japan
Our first stop brings us to the #1 tuna destination in Japan. Watch for fishing boats as we pull into the harbor and also keep your eyes on the horizon for views of Mt Fuji. Enjoy the slower pace of this town, especially compared to the hustle and bustle of Tokyo, by walking through the Dream Plaza in port and exploring the shops there, or taking a 20 minute stroll to the local fish market where you’ll also find restaurants serving the freshest fish imaginable. Or if you’re ready to get back out on the water catch a water bus for a trip along the coast to Miho Masaki Beach where you can stroll on the black volcanic sand and expect more incredible views of Mt Fuji.
Recommended Excursion: Sunpu Castle Park & Views of Mt Fuji

There’s so much to see in Osaka right off the ship that it’s hard to decide! Take a stroll to Tempozan Harbor Village for snacks and shopping, visit one of the world’s largest aquariums, make a stop at the G-lion Museum showcasing rare collectible cars, or hop on a replica historic sailboat for an hour tour of the bay. Or get front row seats to the view from the Crow’s Nest and enjoy the scenery with a coffee or cocktail from the café.

March 11: Hiroshima, Japan
Like Nagasaki, the city of Hiroshima has literally risen from the ashes to become a thriving metropolis today. Traveling around the city there are still plenty of reminders of the destruction in WWII, such as the Atomic Bomb Dome, one of the only structures near ground zero to have remnants standing. It’s possible to step even farther back in time though to visit UNESCO sites that are over 1400 years old. Whatever you decide to do though there’s no disputing that this city is ideal for anyone who loves history.
