Join us in Europe for

Sept 14-28, 2024
Roundtrip from Rotterdam, NL

Join us on our first ever European Voyage and celebrate our new partnership with Dr. Carol Sargent which extends our travel family to include clients and caregivers from the US, Canada, and the UK! This fully customizable, accessible and dementia friendly cruise takes us on a round trip adventure from the Netherlands and heads north to explore the fjords and coastal towns of Norway. Plus, keep an eye on the sky because there’s a good chance we’ll be seeing the absolutely stunning Northern Lights!

Day 1

We depart our group hotel and head to the bustling Rotterdam port for group boarding. Once onboard Elite’s dementia trained volunteer professional staff members will escort you to your cabin and can assist with unpacking if needed. When settled we’ll wave goodbye to the Netherlands as we set off across the North Sea.

Day 2

Our day at sea will be spent getting to know each other and getting familiar with our ship. We are joined by special guest Dr. Carol Sargent, an expert on European dementia-friendly travel who authored Holidaying with Dementia and contributes to Visit Britain Guide to Dementia-Friendly Tourism.

Day 3

Wake up early to enjoy breakfast on your balcony while we cruise through the picturesque Oslofjord on our way to Norway’s capital city, Oslo. We’ll spend the day exploring the city, discovering Viking history, and trying traditional cuisine like kjottkaker (meatballs).

Day 4

There’s a lot to explore in Kristiansand, part of the Norwegian Riviera, and we’ll take advantage of the full day here to see everything; explore the old town that dates to 1631, visit a fish market, and even take some time to enjoy the beach!

Day 5

Gamle Stavanger, or Old Stavanger, is calling our name! Take a trip back in time to see the brightly painted wooden houses and visit the cathedral that has been in use since the 14th century. Or take a boat tour where you’ll see the small islands and coastal villages before viewing the pièce de resistance, the Lysefjord.

Day 6

After enjoying a morning cruising through the Sognefjord we’ll stop in the frozen in time village of Flam. After taking a tender to this charming village we’ll take a scenic train ride over rivers and past waterfalls, giving you and your family plenty of perfect photo opportunities.

Day 7

Wine Tasting

This day at sea will be spent enjoying our onboard amenities. Caregivers can attend optional conferences with our rotation of guest speakers as well as caregiver circles where they can share their experiences with others like them. Or take advantage of the many ship amenities like spa days and wine tastings!

Day 8

We’re back in Rotterdam before embarking on the second leg of our journey and this time we’re ready to explore the city. Join us on a tour where we’ll explore the many sides of this metropolis and stop for tasty treats like stroopwafels!

Day 9

Spa Day

Another day at sea gives us more opportunities to enjoy all the ship has to offer. We particularly enjoy a dip in the hydrotherapy pool at the Greenhouse Spa! This day will also feature more optional caregiver conferences and circles.

Day 10

Eidfjord is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Norway and it’s no wonder: this village is surrounded by national park! Here you’ll enjoy a relaxing trip through town, browse through the charming little ships, and if you’re feeling more adventurous take a trip to see the famous Voringfossen waterfall.

Day 11

After a fire destroyed Alesund in the early 1900s the entire town was rebuilt in the Art Nouveau style which makes this the most charming place to explore. Walk the waterfront for a good look at all the pastel colored buildings, visit the penguins at the aquarium, treat yourself to a drink at a traditional beer garden, or spend a leisurely afternoon at one of the museums here.

Day 12

Geiranger is a nature lovers and photographers dream. This tiny town with only 250 year round residents is surrounded by dramatic views and something for everyone. For active adventurers there’s a waterfall hike, for low key wanderers there’s a traditional homestead with goats and sheep, and for everyone there’s a trip to the Skywalk which offers unparalleled views of the fjords.

Day 13

Today we’re stopping in the “Heart of the Fjords,” Bergen, known for it’s UNESCO World Heritage Site Bryggen, a beautifully preserved old wharf with museums, shops, galleries, and restaurants. Nearby the large outdoor market gives you a sneak peek at the fresh produce and fish you can expect from any of the quaint restaurants along the water. And we can’t miss out on taking the funicular up to the top of the city for some perfect panoramas!

Day 14

Norther Lights

Our last day at sea takes us back in the direction of Rotterdam but it also gives us one more chance to see the Northern Lights. Spend a leisurely day onboard as our trip is winding down and at night keep your eyes to the sky for a chance to see this spectacular light show. Overnight we’ll dock in Rotterdam and once you’re awake Elite’s staff will assist with disembarkation and transportation.
