Adventure Awaits.

Pre-cruise: The fun starts before the cruise when Elite Cruises staff member greets you at Vancouver Airport and escorts you to our pre-cruise group hotel. Fly in a day or two before the cruise to give yourself time to explore the city and see the sights including VanDusen Botanical Gardens, Granville Island Marketplace, the funky Gastown neighborhood, and more! Our staff tour guides are happy to show you around this beautiful city.

August 28: Welcome aboard Holland America Line’s Koningsdam! This morning we’ll transfer to the port and board as a group with one of our staff members accompanying you through the terminal and port security before leading you directly to your stateroom or suite. After unpacking and getting settled it’s time for a night out with a group dinner followed by exploring the entertainment options onboard.

August 29: This day at sea gives us a chance to get to know each other, relax, and get ready for all the fun ahead. Independent travelers can enjoy an Alaska brunch and other ship amenities such as the hydrotherapy spa pool or Alaska educational presentations. Caregivers traveling with us can connect with each other during workshops and respite time while their loved ones have a blast doing activities with the Elite Cruises crew.

August 30: Today we arrive in Juneau which has something to do for every traveler; we love watching for whales here, exploring the Glacier Gardens with their upside-down trees, panning for gold and learning about the Gold Rush, and taking a helicopter ride to meet sled dog puppies at a mushers camp! We’re docked until night so there’s plenty of time to enjoy Alaska’s capital city.

August 31: We have a full day of adventures waiting for us in Skagway, known as the Gateway to the Gold Rush. There’s so many things to do and discover in this historic town, but the most popular activity is always taking a scenic ride on the White Pass Railroad where travelers will get to see the majesty of Alaska’s pristine interior.

September 1: Begin your day by stepping out on the bow of the ship where you’ll be met with the jaw dropping views of Glacier Bay National Park. Warm up with specialty coffees and hot chocolates on offer today (some of the spiked ones will keep you extra toasty) and look out for ship crew passing out cups of their famous Dutch split pea soup. No matter where you are on ship today you’ll have the chance to hear the park rangers talking about the natural wonders we’re surrounded by today and pointing out wildlife right from the ship, including the families of seals that love lounging on ice floats.

September 2: Ketchikan is as charming as Alaska gets! Ger ready for streets lined with colorful old buildings, historic totem poles throughout the town, festive lumberjack shows, native dances and cultural showcases, and fresh seafood everywhere (including on the salmon ladder stream running through town). If you’re going to splurge on any bucket list excursions Ketchikan is the place to do it, offering plenty of sea plane adventures, private fishing charters, and even a chance to step onboard a crab vessel featured on the Deadliest Catch where you can head out with the crew!

September 3: This day at sea will be spent enjoying ship amenities and caregiver programs plus the scenery outside the ship as we glide through the Inside Passage. Use this day as a chance to relax and recover from all the week’s adventures before we return to Vancouver for our flights home.

September 4: We’re back in Vancouver but the fun doesn’t have to end here. Join us on another Elite supported cruise and caregiver retreat to more dream destinations around the globe!
